The widow of the late Desmond Ocloo has won the governing National Democratic Congress’ Shai Osu Doku parliamentary primaries.

After the poll on Saturday June 18, Linda Akwele Ocloo polled 5,156 votes to beat Dr Michael Kpessa Whyte, who polled 3,372 votes.

The late Desmond Ocloo won the primary in November 2015. He beat incumbent David Tetteh-Assumeng who has been in Parliament since 2004.

Mr. Ocloo polled 4,350 votes, while David Tetteh Assumeng had 1280. Dr. Kpessah Whyte, in that contest, polled 3,189 votes, while Ebenezer Adzakli had 393.

Mr Assumeng pulled out of the primary as a sign of respect for the late Desmond Ocloo who died in a car crash early this year.

Linda Ocloo promised to unite the constituency ahead of the November 7 general elections.
