Nii John Coleman, a parliamentary aspirant on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who filed a suit together with incumbent Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle constituency Nii Armah Ashitey against Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has pulled out of the case.

Class News’ Paa Kwesi Parker Wilson reports that his lawyer, Gary Nimako, insisted that he was unaware of the reason for his client’s sudden disinterest in the case as he appeared in court on Friday 11th March.

It is recalled that Mr Ashitey filed a joint suit with Nii Johnson Coleman at the Accra High Court praying the court to restrain Dr Agyeman-Rawlings from holding herself out as parliamentary candidate for the NDC.

Mr Ashitey was defeated in the November 2015 primaries by Dr Rawlings but there are claims she does not have a voter’s ID card, which is a requirement for election to the office of MP.

A letter from the Electoral Commission (EC), however, indicated that Dr Zanetor was not a registered voter according to its records.

Mr Ashitey had earlier named the EC as third respondent but dropped them from the case at the hearing.

The case has been adjourned to March 18.
