A total of 42 persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Captain Maxwell Mahama. This number is up from the 17 who were initially arrested.
Out of the 42, 35 are being processed for court today June 5, according to the police.
Captain Mahama was lynched by irate youth of Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region on suspicion that he was an armed robber, after a group of people he asked for directions from spotted a gun on him.
Meanwhile the family of the slain soldier has announced that he would be buried on Friday, June 9.
Spokespersons for the family, Zakaria Sakara and WOII Ibrahim Samed, said the family would be meeting today and put final touches to plans as to how the funeral would be held.
According to the family spokespersons, three funerals would be held for the 32-year-old Captain – one in Accra, one in Bole, the paternal grandmother’s hometown in the Northern Region and the last one at Tumu, the paternal grandfather’s hometown in the Upper West Region.
